What is a survivalist?  In this day and age that word conjures up images of a half crazed war vet hudled in his fallout shelter surounded by guns, grenades, and the ultimat survival food SPAM!  The media and society in general have this image of a survivalist as a backwoods bumpkin just waiting for the alians to take over Washington (maybe he is correct and they already have!!!).  The truth of the mater is this image couldn't be farther from the truth.  The modern survivalist's are men and women from diverse backgrounds who have determined to not let unforeseen circumstances dictate and conrol their health, wellbeing,and happieness.  The modern survivalist is a independant,free thinking individual, who isn't afraid to break away from the group think mentality.  The modern survivalist refuses to be a victim.  The survival mindset can encompas a huge scope of topics and disaplins.  It prepares you for daily life emergancy ( injurys,job loss, sever weather, fire, ect) to full scale melt down of the system , and any thing in between.  It is amazing the peace of mind and confidence you gain knowing ha when life goes bad you have the skills to handle anything.  So join the forum ,contribute,and learn as much as you can.
